This resource was created for KS4 students - specifically those getting ready for mocks or final exams.
The session focuses on challenging myths and misconceptions about revision. Each task centres around dispelling different myths and references a paralymic sportsman to encourage students to reflect on the myths they use to tell themselves they can’t revise effectively.
This resource also looks at ‘the curve of forgetting’ and the importance of staged revision. It also explores revision environment, challenges the perception that students don’t need to plan revision, and the ideas of ‘highlighting notes’ counting as revision. Finally, it asks students to review their learning and create a plan for how to ‘target’ their revision. It also has an extension task to create a success criteria for revising.
This powerpoint also comes with a learning mat which can be used in the sessions. Perfect for an isolated lessons on revision.

In this resource, you will find a 4 page example teacher coach/teaching mentor/CPD lead application letter or supporting statement.
These are usually roles which lead on coaching teachers and offering teaching and learning support for staff within school and are often internal positions. These may also be staff who lead on CPD, who audit CPD needs within school and work as a team with the SLT link for learning and teaching. This letter is useful if you are applying for any of these roles and should give you a great starting point.
This resource is full of ideas for your own letter and is a great base for writing your own application. I always recommend making sure your own letter fits descriptions for roles and never send a blanket letter to schools or for internal positions.

In this resource you will find my 7000 word NQPML (middle leadership qualification) write up. The focus for my project was an afterschool intervention which focused on developing growth mindset and resilience for Year 7.
The document references lots of great leadership research for NQPML and took a great deal of time to pull together. This particular pro forma is broken down into the ‘competencies’ assessed and the three parts of the project - planning, evaluation and leading the priority.

In this resource you will find an example business case for my NPQSL submission.
This is just intended to be used as a guide for completion of your own business case, as I struggled to find many decent examples when creating mine.
My NPQSL write up can also be found on my shop as well as some other supporting documents. Some information has been removed from this business case for anonymity.
My NPQSL scored 26/28 in total.

This resource aims to develop teacher understanding on how to support best learning and revision. It is not specific to exams, but covers ‘learning effectively’ which applies to both exam preparation as well as learning in general in lessons time.
The resource covers:
how the brain works and how the brain learns, including the science behind learning a new skill
how to build new knowledge pathways in the brain
interleaved learning
spaced learning
concept mapping/retrieval practice
failure as a learning tool
collaborative retrieval as a learning tool
This session also includes:
3 videos (not owned by me - included to develop knowledge)
a ‘starter’ and a ‘plenary’ for use in the CPD
a midpoint learning check
an activity for department to spend time thinking about their practice
You can also find a PDF of ‘revision strategies’ attached as a follow up for staff.
This is a great activity for teachers of all experience but would be especially good for RQTs or NQTs who may just be starting to think about how students learn. This could also be good for form tutors of Y11 and Y10 to think about in preparation for exams.

UPDATED!
This assembly was designed after a series of fighting and physically violent incidents in my year group at the time.
The message is very clear about the potential fatal consequences of fighting and one punch kills. At the time, I could not find an assembly which fitted these purposes.
It includes:
statements students might hear in relation to violence; as aggressors and bystanders
information about why one punch kills are so dangerous
a list of potential injuries from punches
explanation of potential life long changes
3 news stories about fatal punches and a visual representation of the connection between people involved
The final slides also include an interview with one of the offenders about the impact of his decision on the rest of his life. Very powerful, very moving.
There is also a link to a police video on the dangers of one punch kills.
Please check it is appropriate your year group before using - sensitive content.

This resource is an assembly focused on Raising Aspirations. It focuses on challenging student perceptions of HE/FE and looks at the example of a paralympic swimmer to show overcoming adversity.
The assembly contains:
a starter slide using positive quotes about overcoming challenges alongside motivational and inspiring music which is embedded. The first slide also contains the objective: ‘To explore aspirations, fear and expecting more of ourselves.’ It asks students questions about fear and what fear does for holding us back.
the next slide looks at students deepest hopes and deepest fears - discussing how fear can paralyse us from moving forward.
the next slide tackles some of the common misconceptions about students moving onto FE and HE.
the next slide is facts to dispel myths about FE and HE.
top tips for expecting more of ourselves and then a video of an paralymic swimmer winning a backstroke race with no arms. Video embedded.
a discussion around his excuses - or lack of!
link back to the quotes from the beginning
This is a very effective assembly and I have had great success with it when delivered!

This resource is a session which focuses on what makes a successful school including student exploring expectations of both themselves as learners and of teachers. It ends in students creating a ‘success contract’ which pupils at their ideal school would sign.
This resources pairs exceptionally well with the ‘what makes a great learner’ session which can be found on my shop.
